Quote of the day

We know that the audience always likes to be one step ahead of the story; they like to feel that they know what is going to happen. So we deliberately play on this fact to control their thoughts. The more we delve into the details of the girl's journey, the more the audience is absorbed in her flight. The viewer is sent in one direction and then in another; they are kept as far away as possible from what is actually going to happen. ‘Psycho’ has a very interesting construction and this game with the audience was fascinating. I was directing the audience. You could say I was playing them, like playing the organ.
