My brief bio: Sandra Julien, a native of Chambéry, has been a volunteer at the Lumière Film Festival for five years. Holder of a Master's degree in cellular biology and a DESS in Quality Management, Sandra regularly swaps her quality manager's hat in industry to get involved as a volunteer in cultural events: from the ‘Été en cinémascope’ to the ‘Quais du Polar’, or the ‘Peinture fraîche’ festival and the Improvidence theatre. A keen sense of altruism that Sandra cultivates both in the city and on stage.
My favourite filmmakers: I love Asian cinema and in particular Japanese cinema, I'm a big admirer of Takeshi Kitano. There is always humour in his films, he always manages to bring sweetness to violence. I also like Maïwenn's films a lot.
My favourite actors: I love Eva Green; she was incredible in Ridley Scott's ‘Kingdom of Heaven’. I love everything about her: her deep voice, her atypical physique, her charisma! And I'm a huge fan of Bill Murray for his quirky side, and of Forest Whitaker.
My favourite film: ‘Clercks’ by Kevin Smith. It's a ‘prankster’ comedy, it's a cult film for me. I also had a fondness for the film ‘In Between’ by Maysaloun Hamoud.
My interest in volunteering: I like to welcome the public, I love helping people and informing them, I like this educational aspect. Maybe it comes from my job!
My tasks at the festival: I'm a coordinator at the Lumière Terreaux cinema, which consists of managing the team of volunteers and welcoming the festivalgoers.
My best memory of the festival: It's probably the screening of ‘Apocalypse Now’ at the Halle Tony-Garnier, in the presence of Francis Ford Coppola. Seeing this film on the big screen, with its incredible soundtrack, I was blown away!
