My brief bio: After discovering the festival with his family during the screening of ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ in the presence of Jane Fonda, Florian Mavy, 20 years old, joined the team of volunteers this year. Florian has decided to "put his studies on hold" for a time to devote himself to his passion for the 7th art. With three scripts to his credit, this expert in Asian cinema plans to direct his first short film. For this, the young filmmaker is actively seeking a producer. The search is on!

My favourite filmmakers: Maya Deren, for her surreal and avant-garde style. I loved the short film ‘Meshes of the Afternoon’, which influenced David Lynch. I also love the Hungarian filmmaker Márta Mészáros and the Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, without forgetting Éric Rohmer!

My favourite actors: Isabelle Huppert, her role in Michael Haneke's ‘The Piano Teacher’ is staggering! I also love Liv Ullmann and Tilda Swinton. I am a fan of Japanese actor Tatsuya Nakadai and Willem Dafoe.

My favourite film: ‘Sansho the Bailiff’ by Japanese director Kenji Mizoguchi; it's certainly the most interesting dramatic film. And then ‘The King and the Mockingbird’ by Paul Grimault is a great fantasy movie!

My interest in volunteering: I wanted to help people. In this volunteer role, there is an immersive aspect: you see people from all walks of life and of all ages sharing a common passion. It's wonderful to (re)inspire people to go to the cinema!

My tasks at the festival: I help welcome the public to the movie theatres of the Institut Lumière and I accompany the guests. I also help with the distribution of the daily festival newspaper.
