In the spring of 1995, Mathieu Kassovitz's’ ‘Hate (La Haine)’ drew over 2 million cinemagoers and created a genre: suburban cinema. More than twenty-five years later, this compelling social film, with its polished black and white, has lost none of its acuity or vigour. But how well do you know it?
