“In each of my Hungarian films I tried to experiment, to introduce something never seen before, at least in the context of Hungarian cinema of that period. For example, adultery. When I suggested that a countess give herself to her gardener, it created quite a stir. And yet all we saw was a woman's hand turning off the bedside lamp. In one of these films, I made the burglar a hero. In another, two horses meet and start talking to each other!”
