 « I know New York very well, I've lived there all my life. This city is infinite, you can't ever get to know it completely. If I shoot a film in Russia and, pressed for time, I have to do without a shot, I know there's a place in Brooklyn that looks like Moscow. The same goes for Paris or London. Whereas Hollywood resembles those 19th century towns, like Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where all the activities depended on a steel mill that owned everything. A town that relies on a single profession leads to disaster. »
